Supported Telemetry Formats

AIM and Alfano devices supported — what each provides

Overview

Synclay supports telemetry data from two major motorsport data logging platforms. Both provide speed, RPM, throttle, brake, GPS coordinates, lap markers, and sector boundaries — enough to power all of Synclay's telemetry widgets.

Telemetry files are imported alongside your video files in the same watched folder. Synclay auto-detects the format and pairs telemetry with your video group.

Comparison Table

Property AIM Alfano (ADA)

AIM

AIM loggers (Solo 2, Solo 2 DL, Mychron 5/5s/6, MXS, MXS 1.3, MXG) export session data as CSV files through AiM Race Studio software.

How to export

  1. Open your session in AiM Race Studio
  2. Export as CSV — one file per session
  3. Place the CSV file in the same folder as your video files
Note: Synclay reads the GPS timestamp from AIM CSV files to align telemetry with video. Ensure your AIM device has a GPS lock before starting a session for accurate sync.

Supported channels

Speed, RPM, throttle position, brake pressure, lateral G-force, longitudinal G-force, GPS latitude, GPS longitude, lap number, sector boundaries.

Alfano (ADA PROFESSIONNEL)

Alfano loggers (Alfano 6, Alfano Pro III Evo) export session data as ZIP archives through ADA PROFESSIONNEL software.

How to export

  1. Open your session in ADA PROFESSIONNEL
  2. Export as ZIP archive — one file per session
  3. Place the ZIP file in the same folder as your video files
macOS / Windows: Do not extract the ZIP file — Synclay reads the archive directly. Extracted individual files will not be recognized.

Supported channels

Speed, RPM, throttle position, brake position, GPS latitude, GPS longitude, lap number, sector boundaries. G-force data is not available from Alfano devices.

Compatible Widgets

Both AIM and Alfano telemetry power the following Synclay widgets:

  • Arc Gauge / Bar Gauge / Numeric — display any supported channel (speed, RPM, throttle, brake)
  • Mini-Map — GPS track rendering with speed gradient or sector color bands
  • Telemetry Trace — scrolling line graph or vertical bar for any channel
  • Ghost Lap — current vs reference lap delta with sector-by-sector comparison
Note: G-force widgets (lateral/longitudinal gauges) are only available with AIM telemetry. Alfano sessions will not show G-force widget options.
