Screenshot Capture

Take a manual screenshot or let Synclay pick the sharpest frame automatically.

Manual Screenshot

  1. Open your project and navigate to the frame you want to capture using the timeline or playback controls.
  2. Click the screenshot/capture button in the controls bar.
  3. Synclay saves a PNG of the current composite frame (main video + PiP + all telemetry widgets).
  4. The file is saved to your project folder.
Tip: Pause playback first for a cleaner capture. The screenshot includes everything visible on the canvas — PiP overlay, telemetry widgets, and the main video.

Auto Best-Frame

Auto best-frame mode analyzes the video and selects the sharpest, most visually interesting frame automatically.

  1. Open your project.
  2. Select the auto best-frame capture mode.
  3. Synclay scans frames and picks the one with the highest sharpness score.
  4. The selected frame is saved as a PNG.
Tip: Best-frame mode works well for action footage — it avoids motion blur and selects crisp moments.

Where Screenshots Are Saved

When you capture a screenshot, Synclay prompts you to choose a folder where the image will be saved. The filename includes a timestamp to avoid overwriting previous captures.
